Eldorado at Eldorado Country Club

Eldorado Country Club sits in Indian Wells, part of the greater Palm Springs area in California's Coachella Valley. The course was designed by Lawrence Hughes and opened in the mid-1950s, during the post-war expansion of desert golf in Southern California. Hughes, a regional architect active in the Southwest, created a layout that works with the valley's flat-to-gently-rolling terrain and takes advantage of views toward the surrounding mountain ranges, including the Santa Rosa Mountains to the south.

The routing reflects the design sensibilities of its era, with relatively straightforward holes, strategic bunkering, and mature landscaping that has developed over decades. Palm trees, oleander, and other desert plantings frame fairways, while water features appear on several holes. The course has undergone periodic updates to maintain playability and accommodate modern equipment, though it retains the fundamental character of a mid-century desert layout.

Eldorado has served as a venue for professional golf, most notably hosting events on the LPGA Tour. The club maintains a traditional private membership and has long been part of the Indian Wells golf community, which includes several other established clubs in close proximity. The setting offers the climate and mountain backdrop characteristic of Coachella Valley golf, with the course providing a comfortable, mature environment for year-round play.
