DESERT PRINCESS COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Cathedral City, CA, USA
Designed by David Rainville

El Cielo is one of two eighteen-hole courses at Desert Princess Country Club in Cathedral City, positioned in the Coachella Valley near Palm Springs. David Rainville designed the layout, which shares the property with the club's other course, Vista. The facility operates as a semi-private club, offering both member and public access in a region dense with golf options.
The course occupies relatively flat desert terrain characteristic of the valley floor, with views toward the surrounding mountain ranges that frame the Coachella Valley. Rainville's routing incorporates the native desert landscape alongside traditional resort-style features common to the area's golf development era. Water features appear on several holes, and the design includes strategic bunkering and modest elevation changes created through shaping rather than natural topography.
Desert Princess serves both local residents and visitors to the greater Palm Springs area. The club maintains a casual atmosphere typical of semi-private facilities in the region, where golf is accessible without the formality or exclusivity of some neighboring private clubs. The courses provide year-round play, with the winter and spring months representing peak season when temperatures are most favorable and the valley attracts its largest influx of seasonal residents and tourists.
Reviews
Had a lot of fun playing this one solo, it was about 110° degrees out so definitely a grind but the course played well enough to make it worth it. I’m sure in the winter when Palm Springs greens up this course becomes quite beautiful.
