EKWANOK COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Manchester, VT, USA
Designed by Walter Travis

Ekwanok, nestled in the shadow of Mount Equinox near Manchester Center, Vermont, whispers of a bygone era where golf was a contemplative pursuit as much as a competitive endeavor. Carved into the rolling New England landscape during the Golden Age, the course presents a parkland style characterized by subtly undulating fairways and deceptively challenging greens. Its design favors the strategic player, rewarding thoughtful approaches over brute power, with fairways that generally run fast and true.
Walter Travis, the celebrated amateur champion turned architect, originally sculpted Ekwanok's elegant layout. While the course has seen subtle refinements over the years, its core Travis DNA remains remarkably intact. The course has played host to the Vermont Open.
Ekwanok occupies a distinguished, if understated, position among classic American courses. Its understated ambiance speaks to a membership that values tradition and camaraderie above ostentation. Among members and returning players, the club's lunchtime chowder is an equal part of the Ekwanok experience.
Reviews
The most beautiful around fall for obvious reasons.
#1 in Vermont for good reason, very fun track steeped in some history.
Perfect location in Manchester surrounded by the Mountains. Really well designed and the conditions are perfect. The fescue is beautiful and it’s really a treat the longer you wait into fall
