EASTMORELAND GOLF COURSE
🇺🇸 Portland, OR, USA
Designed by H. Chandler Egan

Eastmoreland Golf Course sits in southeast Portland, occupying a flat, tree-lined property adjacent to the Eastmoreland neighborhood and Crystal Springs Rhododendron Garden. H. Chandler Egan designed the course in 1917, making it one of the oldest continuously operating courses in the Pacific Northwest. Egan, a two-time U.S. Amateur champion who became a prominent architect in the region, created a straightforward parkland layout that has served Portland's public golfers for more than a century.
The course plays through mature stands of Douglas fir, oak, and other native trees that define corridors and frame holes. The terrain is largely level, with minimal elevation change, and several holes run alongside or near Johnson Creek, which winds through the eastern portion of the property. Water comes into play on multiple holes, and the tree-lined fairways demand accuracy from the tee. Egan's greens are modest in size and contour by modern standards, reflecting the design sensibilities of the era.
Eastmoreland operates as a municipal facility and maintains a reputation as one of the better public courses in Oregon. It has hosted numerous regional amateur events and qualifiers over the decades, serving as a competitive venue for the Portland golf community. The course remains accessible and affordable, drawing a steady mix of local players and visitors seeking a traditional parkland round in an urban setting. The clubhouse and facilities are functional rather than elaborate, consistent with its public mission.
