INVERRARY COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Lauderhill, FL, USA
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr.

The East Course at Inverrary Country Club opened in 1972 as part of Robert Trent Jones Sr.'s design work for this South Florida resort and residential community in Lauderhill. Jones created two courses here during an era when he was shaping numerous championship layouts across Florida, bringing his characteristic strategic design principles to the flat Broward County terrain. The East Course served as the more prominent of the two layouts and hosted PGA Tour events during the 1970s and early 1980s, including the Jackie Gleason Inverrary Classic, which brought professional tournament golf to the property and helped establish its competitive credentials.
Jones employed his signature design elements throughout the East Course, working with the site's limited natural elevation to create strategic interest through substantial bunkering, water hazards, and large, contoured greens. The routing incorporates lakes and canals that come into play on multiple holes, typical of South Florida golf architecture where water management and hazard placement define much of the challenge. The course features the wide fairways and expansive green complexes that characterize Jones's work from this period, rewarding accurate approach play and thoughtful course management.
Inverrary Country Club developed as a significant South Florida golf destination during the 1970s, and the East Course remains the club's primary championship layout. The property reflects the era's country club resort model, combining golf with residential development in suburban Fort Lauderdale. The course continues to serve the club's membership within the broader Inverrary community.
