BROADMOOR RESORT
🇺🇸 Colorado Springs, CO, USA
Designed by Donald Ross
East at Broadmoor Resort is where championship dreams are forged and shattered against the backdrop of the Colorado Rockies. A quintessential American parkland course, it's a testament to Donald Ross's enduring design principles, subtly modernized over the years. The East demands strategic prowess, rewarding courageous play with open approaches while punishing the faint of heart with challenging green-side bunkers and subtle elevation changes. Playing long and favoring a high ball flight, expect to be tested on every tee.
Ross's original layout, dating back to 1918, has seen the hands of Robert Trent Jones Sr. and Nicklaus Design add their own imprints, enhancing both its beauty and its bite. This storied course is best known for hosting the 1959 U.S. Amateur won by Charles Coe, and the 1967 U.S. Open won by Jack Nicklaus, and the 2018 U.S. Senior Open, among other significant events that shaped the careers of legends.
Beyond the demanding test of golf, the club's ambiance is uniquely defined by its setting and its membership, an eclectic mix of titans of industry and passionate golfers. Post-round, conversations often revolve around conquering the treacherous par-4 18th, a testament to the enduring challenge and charm of the East Course.
Reviews
Off the tee and green complexes
Amazing Mountain Views. Greens super fast and the thickest rough I’ve seen. Difficult but views and vibes make up for most of that.
A breathtaking mountain Donald Ross, with fast, sloping greens. An old time course with great facilities
Incredible course that gets better everytime, one of my favorite tracks to come back to. Always in impeccable shape
Played it in April 2025 a few months before the senior US open
