BEAR CREEK GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Dallas, TX, USA
Designed by Ted Robinson
East at Bear Creek Golf Club is where Dallas golf ambition took flight, quite literally, given its proximity to DFW Airport. Carved from the flat Texas prairie, its modern design by Ted Robinson Sr. presents a deceptively challenging, accessible play. While not nationally prominent, it is a favorite for locals that has proven to be a friendly tournament venue.
The course unfolds across wide fairways, inviting a bold approach off the tee. However, subtle undulations and strategically placed water hazards reward calculated shot-making. The prevailing winds, often a factor given the open terrain, can quickly transform a seemingly straightforward hole into a strategic puzzle.
Beyond the course, Bear Creek fosters a strong community among its players. You will find the membership is composed of weekend warriors and former mini tour players from all walks of life. While no particular dish defines the Bear Creek experience, the 19th hole is a welcoming space where tales of near misses and triumphant birdies are shared with equal enthusiasm and the occasional, good-natured ribbing.
Reviews
I prefer the West course a little bit, but this is very similar - struggles with pace of play, but a pretty good course with some solid holes and a convenient location (though you do get some plane noise from DFW).
