EAGLE NEST GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Little River, SC, USA
Designed by Gene Hamm

Eagle Nest Golf Club sits in Little River, a quiet coastal community in the northeastern corner of South Carolina near the North Carolina border. Designed by Gene Hamm and opened in the early 1990s, the course occupies land characteristic of the Grand Strand region—relatively flat terrain with natural wetlands, pine corridors, and tidal marshes that influence several holes. The routing takes advantage of these lowland features, incorporating water hazards and native vegetation into the strategic design while maintaining playability for a range of skill levels.
Hamm, a regional architect active along the Carolina coast during the golf development boom of the late twentieth century, designed Eagle Nest to serve both residents and visitors in the Myrtle Beach area. The course reflects the era's emphasis on resort-style accessibility combined with enough challenge to hold local interest. Holes move through stands of mature pines and open to views of surrounding marshland, with water coming into play on multiple occasions throughout the round.
Eagle Nest operates as part of the broader Little River golf community, an area that developed as a quieter alternative to the more concentrated resort zones to the south. The course remains a neighborhood amenity and public-access facility, drawing golfers seeking a straightforward round in a natural coastal setting without the crowds of the main Grand Strand corridor.
