EAGLE LANDING GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Orange Park, FL, USA
Designed by Clyde Johnston

Eagle Landing Golf Club sits in Orange Park, a suburban community southwest of Jacksonville in northeastern Florida. Clyde Johnston designed the course, which opened in the late 1980s as part of a residential development. Johnston, a North Carolina-based architect who worked extensively throughout the Southeast during that era, routed the layout through rolling terrain somewhat unusual for coastal Florida, taking advantage of natural elevation changes and mature pine and hardwood forests.
The course plays through a mix of wooded corridors and more open areas, with water hazards appearing on roughly half the holes. The routing makes use of the property's topography to create variety in shot values and visual interest, with several holes playing uphill or downhill rather than the flat character typical of many Florida courses. Fairway bunkers and greenside complexes reflect Johnston's straightforward design approach from that period, emphasizing playability for a range of skill levels while still presenting strategic options for better players.
Eagle Landing functions as a semi-private facility, serving both members and outside play. The club offers traditional amenities including practice facilities and dining, and the course has hosted regional amateur competitions over the years. The layout remains relatively true to Johnston's original design, maintaining the wooded, parkland character that distinguishes it from the links-style or resort courses more common along Florida's coasts.
Reviews
Fun course, a bit of a hike from where I live but I remember it being in good shape for a public course - some good holes on the back 9. Geese are always trying to come up to your cart for food
