Duran Course
Viera, FL, USA

Duran Golf Club is located in Viera, a master-planned community in Brevard County on Florida's Space Coast. The course was designed by Lewis Powell, a Florida-based architect who has worked on numerous layouts throughout the state. Viera itself developed as a residential and commercial hub beginning in the 1980s, and the golf course serves as part of the community's recreational infrastructure. The course occupies relatively flat terrain typical of central Florida's Atlantic coastal plain, with routing that likely incorporates water features, native vegetation, and strategic bunkering to define holes and create challenge on land with minimal natural elevation change. Florida courses of this era and type generally emphasize shot placement and accuracy over distance, with water hazards serving as primary defensive elements. The design would reflect Powell's familiarity with Florida's environmental conditions, including drainage requirements and the integration of preserved wetland areas. Duran Golf Club functions as a semi-private facility serving both members and outside play, typical of golf amenities within planned communities along Florida's east coast. The course provides year-round golf in a region known for its proximity to Kennedy Space Center and the Indian River Lagoon system. The layout offers recreational golf in a setting shaped by Florida's characteristic landscape of palms, pines, and water management systems that define the state's modern golf course architecture.

I consider this to be my current home course currently. It’s a great local course with a good staff. The pros are top quality and I’ve worked personally with Coach Ryan. They recently upgraded the driving range with trackman bays which are super nice. One of the nicest and most consistent courses in the area in terms of quality.
Duran is usually in pretty good shape, cool facility, nice clubhouse. Does have some aspects of the typical Florida course but it’s a bit better than that. A few cool holes.
