Dunwoody Country Club bears the hallmarks of a course intended for members, not magazine covers, a sentiment that resonates deeply within its tight-knit Atlanta community. Carved into the gently rolling hills of North Atlanta, the original course, a product of Willard Byrd's sensible design, offers a classic parkland experience, a counterpoint to the area's more dramatic layouts. Its tree-lined fairways reward strategic play more than brute power, favoring those who can deftly navigate doglegs and manage subtle elevation changes.

While not nationally renowned, the course has seen its share of competitive moments, having hosted numerous state amateur events, quietly testing the mettle of Georgia's emerging talent. Significant enhancements were later implemented in the late 90's early 2000's, adding length and undulating, multi-tiered greens by Gene Bates and Bill Bergin, respectively.
