DRUIDS GLEN GOLF RESORT
🇮🇪 Newtownmountkennedy, Wicklow, IE
Designed by Pat Ruddy, Tom Craddock

Druids Heath, the sister course to the famed Druids Glen, carves a distinct, rugged identity from the same fertile Wicklow landscape. Forged in the modern era, the Heath presents a wilder, more exposed counterpoint to its manicured sibling, embracing the natural drama of the Irish countryside. Think expansive gorse, undulating fairways, and strategically placed pot bunkers that demand creative shot-making. This links-style parkland rewards strategic play and those who embrace the ground game, especially on blustery days when the coastal winds bite.
Designed by Pat Ruddy and Tom Craddock, Druids Heath presents a deceptively challenging layout. While seemingly open from the tee, the course subtly favors a controlled fade to navigate its many doglegs and avoid the clutches of the ever-present heather. Approach shots demand precision, particularly to the elevated greens, which often feature deceptive slopes and subtle breaks.
While Druids Heath hasn't hosted events of the scale seen on its sister course, it remains a popular and demanding test for golfers of all levels. Its character, more exposed and unforgiving than Druids Glen, draws a membership and visiting golfers seeking an authentic test of their skills amidst stunning scenery.
A round at Druids Heath wouldn’t be complete without a post-round pint in the clubhouse, where lively conversation often revolves around tales of wayward shots and heroic recoveries amid the challenging terrain. Perhaps the Heath doesn’t carry the championship pedigree of its more famous sibling, but for many, its raw character and demanding layout make it the more memorable experience.
Reviews
Kinda the poor relation to its big brother Druids Glen but it’s a good course in its own right. Play it off the tips and It can beat you up. Rolling undulating fairways and greens. Bit more open than Druids Glen, that is there are a lot less trees not that you can spray it everywhere. Always enjoy playing it and would recommend.
