DRUIDS GLEN GOLF RESORT
🇮🇪 Newtownmountkennedy, Wicklow, IE
Designed by Pat Ruddy
Druids Glen, forged in the heart of County Wicklow, whispers tales of ancient gatherings and the "Garden of Ireland." A modern parkland creation from the late 20th century, its inland terrain surprises with dramatic elevation changes and views of the Irish Sea. While not particularly tight, wayward shots are swiftly penalized. The course favors a left-to-right ball flight, rewarding those who can shape the ball off the tee.
Designed by Pat Ruddy and Tom Craddock, Druids Glen gained prominence as a host venue for the Irish Open, witnessing European Tour victories. The course's conditioning is widely praised and it is particularly known for its challenging water features, most notably on the par-3 12th.
The club draws a passionate local membership. They consider themselves guardians of this dramatic landscape. It is renowned in the region for its meticulously manicured greens and a friendly, welcoming atmosphere.
Reviews
Augusta of Ireland, I say that having never been anywhere near Augusta so do with that what you will 😀. It’s a beautiful course, par 3’s # 8 and 12 really stand out. I say it’s hidden gem because everyone comes to Ireland to play links golf but this place is definitely worth a visit. Held several Irish Opens back in the day (Montgomerie days). Went through a facelift redesign recently, haven’t played it since.
