DORMIE CLUB
🇺🇸 West End, NC, USA
Designed by Ben Crenshaw, Bill Coore

Dormie Club, carved from the rolling sandhills of West End, North Carolina, represents a deliberate return to golf's strategic demands and social roots. Its appeal lies not in championship banners, but in the purity of the game itself, offering a haven from the increasingly frenetic pace of modern life.
Designed by Bill Coore and Ben Crenshaw, Dormie Club presents a contemporary interpretation of classic architectural principles. The course unfurls across a rugged, pine-studded landscape, demanding thoughtful shot-making rather than brute power. Fairways are generous in width, but strategically placed bunkers and subtle undulations place a premium on position and angle. The course favors those who can manage their game, rewarding a controlled fade into many greens.
Dormie Club operates on a national membership model, fostering a sense of camaraderie amongst a diverse group of passionate golfers. Absent the distractions of tee times or formal dining requirements, the club prioritizes the essence of the game and lasting connections. While not a fixture on professional tournament schedules, Dormie Club has become a sought-after destination for discerning players seeking an unadulterated golfing experience.
The club boasts a relaxed, understated atmosphere. Members often recount evenings spent on the clubhouse porch, reliving the day's shots and engaging in spirited debate about course strategy, punctuated by the aroma of grilled fare and friendly laughter. The Dormie experience is intentionally stripped down, placing the focus squarely on the challenge and camaraderie of the game, a nod to golf's rich heritage in the Carolina pines.
Reviews
The experience is better than the golf course
Dormie is an experience. Played it when it was pretty new and the pro shop and ca ins hadn’t been built yet. Incredible layout on cool terrain a great test every hole is interesting. If you can play it you definitely should.
Solid Coore Crenshaw, worth the play if you’re in the ball park.
Not a bad thing to say about this exceptional property. The course is basically yours, welcoming crew, awesome pro shop and facilities. Tried and True Coore&Crenshaw layout in the NC Sandhills. Big Pines, water holes, bunkering to perfection and elite greens. Really was just a spectacular experience for my 40th bday. From the time we stepped foot on property to the time we left, we were treated like royalty. Awesome awesome experience. Oh and the course is so good!
