DIAMOND RUN GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Sewickley, PA, USA
Designed by Gary Player
Diamond Run, carved into the rolling hills just north of Pittsburgh, stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of modern course design with echoes of Scottish links. Wide fairways, seemingly forgiving from the tee, quickly narrow as approach shots demand exacting calculations to undulating greens guarded by deep bunkers and strategic mounding. Players who embrace the ground game find an advantage here.
Designed by Gary Player, Diamond Run's layout emphasizes risk-reward scenarios, particularly on its par-5s, which encourage bold play. While not nationally ranked, the club’s commitment to course conditioning ensures a consistently challenging and enjoyable experience for its members.
Beyond the course, Diamond Run fosters a vibrant community known for its relaxed atmosphere and passionate golfers. The club is rumored to have a particularly competitive ladies' league, adding a unique dynamic to the member culture. A lesser known tidbit is that Gary Player made an ace at the course during its grand opening!
Reviews
Firm and FAST! Routing does a good job of playing nicely through some extreme elevation changes. Definitely challenging, but all holes can be gotten — misses can catch up with you quickly. Don’t hit the false fronts and be careful with those downhill putts. Loving it.
