DEER PARK GOLF AND FOOTGOLF
🇮🇪 Howth, Dublin, IE
Designed by Fred Hawtree

Deer Park occupies a dramatic hillside site on the Howth Peninsula, overlooking Dublin Bay from the northern edge of the city. Fred Hawtree designed the course to work with the steep, rolling terrain characteristic of this coastal headland, routing holes across slopes that offer views of the bay, the city, and the Irish Sea. The property sits within what was historically parkland, and the layout makes full use of the elevation changes and natural contours.
The course presents a mix of uphill, downhill, and sidehill lies, with the topography defining much of the challenge. Several holes play along or across the hillside, requiring careful club selection and attention to stance. The exposed position means wind is a frequent factor, particularly on holes higher up the slope. The routing takes advantage of the natural amphitheater created by the hillside, with some holes playing back toward the clubhouse and others stretching out along the contours.
Deer Park operates as a public facility and has added FootGolf to its offerings, reflecting a modern approach to accessibility and recreational variety. The course serves both local Dublin golfers and visitors exploring the Howth area, which is known for its coastal walks and village atmosphere. The combination of challenging terrain, accessible green fees, and proximity to the city center makes it a practical option for golfers seeking elevation-based interest without traveling far from Dublin.
