DEEPDALE GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Manhasset, NY, USA
Designed by Dick Wilson
Deepdale, a bastion of Long Island golf, exudes an understated confidence cultivated by its discerning membership and challenging layout. Carved from the rolling terrain of Manhasset, the course favors strategic play over raw power.
Originally designed by the legendary Dick Wilson in the mid-1950s, Deepdale reflects the bold, yet classic lines of that era. Its parkland setting, characterized by mature trees and subtly undulating fairways, presents a demanding test where precise iron play and thoughtful course management are rewarded. While not hosting major professional championships, Deepdale enjoys a reputation as a coveted setting for high-level amateur competitions.
Deepdale’s membership is largely made up of NYC business magnates. The club is known for its strong ties to the New York City business and financial communities. The course is also rumored to have a strict no cell phone policy on the course, a refreshing break from the constant connectivity of modern life, fostering a more engaged and traditional golfing experience.
Reviews
The experience here was absolutely spectacular. It was the opposite of crowded when I went and everybody was so nice.
The place is a historical landmark and that really props up the entire experience. The clubhouse is beautiful. Adorned with beautiful artwork, dark wood everywhere, and a logo that holds up with the best. If you’re lucky enough to secure an invite, it’s a must see. I’ve never seen tee boxes in better condition.
Deepdale from a conditioning stand point is as good as it gets. Layout is crammed into a pretty small piece of land that is very hilly. Still a few really cool holes and a good overall course. The greens are some of the craziest that I have ever seen, can make for a frustrating round if you are above the hole.
Unreal experience. Course really was a surprise. I’d heard a lot of negative things that “the greens are the only good part” and “it’s not a good course, just exclusive” but it really exceeded my expectations. Amazing green complexes and bunkering. Really requires some demanding approach shots. One of the best conditioned courses I’ve played. Best showers ever 🚿
