DeCordova Bend at DeCordova Bend Country Club

DeCordova Bend Country Club occupies rolling terrain along the shores of Lake Granbury, approximately forty miles southwest of Fort Worth in North Central Texas. Leon Howard and Dave Bennett designed the course, which takes advantage of the property's natural elevation changes and lakeside setting. The routing moves through stands of native oak and pecan trees, with several holes offering views across the water. The layout incorporates the region's characteristic limestone outcroppings and creek beds into its design strategy.

The course presents a traditional parkland character shaped by the Hill Country topography that extends into this part of Texas. Elevation shifts create varied approach angles and strategic considerations throughout the round, while the tree-lined corridors demand accuracy from the tee. Several holes play directly along the lake, where wind becomes a factor and water hazards frame the landing areas. The design balances risk-reward opportunities with more straightforward holes that allow players to recover momentum.

DeCordova Bend serves as the centerpiece of a residential community that developed around Lake Granbury during the latter decades of the twentieth century. The club maintains a family-oriented atmosphere typical of Texas country clubs outside major metropolitan areas, with golf serving as the primary recreational focus.
