DAHLGREEN GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Chaska, MN, USA
Designed by Donald Brauer, Gerry Pirkl

Dahlgreen Golf Club sits in Chaska, Minnesota, a community southwest of Minneapolis that has become known for its golf facilities, including nearby Hazeltine National. The course was designed by Gerry Pirkl and Donald Brauer, both Minnesota-based architects who have worked on numerous courses throughout the Upper Midwest. The design reflects the regional approach to golf course architecture in Minnesota, where layouts must accommodate the climate and terrain of the prairie-lake transition zone.
The Chaska area features gently rolling topography shaped by glacial activity, with native grasses and wetlands characteristic of the region. Courses here typically incorporate these natural features into their routing, and Dahlgreen follows this pattern with holes that work with the existing landforms rather than impose dramatic earthwork. The design likely emphasizes playability for a range of skill levels while presenting strategic options through green complexes and hazard placement.
Dahlgreen serves as a daily-fee facility in a market that includes both public and private options, providing accessible golf in a region with a strong recreational golf culture. Minnesota's golf season runs roughly from April through October, and courses in this climate zone are designed with turf management and drainage considerations that account for spring thaw and occasional heavy rainfall. The club offers a straightforward golf experience focused on the game itself rather than resort-style amenities.
Reviews
Currently rank this 3rd behind Hazeltine and Chaska Town Course in my Chaska Top 3. But if I had one round to play at any of the three, i'd pick Dahlgreen, because the people that run it are simply some of the best people you will ever meet. The layout may not be ideal, the cheeseburger, however, is.
