CYPRESS POINT CLUB
🇺🇸 Pebble Beach, CA, USA
Designed by Alister Mackenzie

Cypress Point Club isn't just a golf course; it's an experience etched into the rugged coastline of Pebble Beach, California. Its routing is legendary, particularly the dramatic par-3s that cling to the Pacific's edge. This is where the game demands bravery and imagination, not just mechanical precision.
Born from the Golden Age vision of Alister MacKenzie, with later refinements by Robert Hunter, Cypress Point's design showcases an exceptional interplay between the natural terrain and strategic course design. The links-style fairways weave through coastal dunes and dense cypress groves, demanding inventive shot-making and a deep respect for the elements. The course has never sought publicity, rather it lets the course speak for itself. The membership roster reads like a who's who of industry titans and those discreetly connected.
The club’s mystique is further enhanced by its air of exclusivity and understated elegance. Stories abound of impromptu matches between influential figures and hushed boardroom deals concluded on the back nine. A round at Cypress Point is more than a game; it's an entry into a world where the love of golf intertwines with a deep appreciation for the finer things in life.
Reviews
An unreal experience. It’s way more relaxed of a place than you think. People are friendly and very helpful. 15-17 is as good as it gets.
Best course I have played. Inland holes are great and through the trees but starting at 14 it is like playing in a movie scene. Practice areas are limited. Locker room feels like you are transported back in time. The absolute best pure golfing experience.
Pure, perfect, timeless
I was lucky enough to play Cypress Point Club as an unaccompanied guest in September 2024. As an unaccompanied guest you only have access to the pro shop, putting green and golf course so I didn’t get to experience the club. That being said, everyone we interacted with at Cypress Point from the staff in the shop to the caddies were great. The course itself was everything it was cracked up to be and more. The anticipation of playing Cypress could have easily overwhelmed the experience but the golf course more than lived up the hype. From the first hole, which may be the coolest opening hole in golf, to the signature par 3s, the short 4s, the way the course traverses the different environments, Cypress Point is as close to a perfect golf course as there is.
It tops the lists for a reason. 15, 16, 17 is a contender for best 3 hole stretch of golf anywhere. The inland holes are great, too.
Unbelievable .
It’s Cypress it’s the best course I’ll likely ever play. It’s not a 10 because its so exclusive and once isn’t enough times to play here. Forever grateful I had the opportunity
Fels wrong to "rank" this course. What a day.
One of the most enjoyable days of my life. There is no place like it.
Probably the best golfing experience anyone could ask for. Playing Cypress Point was absolutely unforgettable, a true bucket-list experience. The course is perfectly divided into three sets of six holes, each offering a completely different feel and challenge. The first six holes wind through beautiful coastal forest, framed by towering Monterey pines with tight fairways and subtle elevation changes. The middle six transition into the dunes, where the terrain opens up, and you’re constantly dealing with natural sandy waste areas and tricky shot-making decisions. The final six holes take you right along the Pacific Ocean, with unreal views, especially on the iconic stretch from 15 through 17, where cliffs, crashing waves, and precision golf all collide. I was lucky enough to play right before the club championship, and the caddies mentioned the course was in the best condition it would be all year. The greens were rolling at 15–16 on the stimp, lightning-fast and perfectly true, making every putt a test of touch and nerves. Cypress Point delivers an experience that feels almost surreal. Easily one of the best days I’ve ever had on a golf course.
