PENINSULA GOLF & RACQUET CLUB
🇺🇸 Gulf Shores, AL, USA
Designed by Earl Stone

The Cypress Course at Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club is an Earl Stone design situated in Gulf Shores along Alabama's Gulf Coast. Stone, a regional architect active primarily in the southeastern United States during the latter decades of the twentieth century, created a layout that takes advantage of the coastal plain topography characteristic of this part of the state. The course occupies land typical of the area—relatively flat terrain with natural wetlands, native grasses, and stands of cypress and pine that give the course its name.
The routing incorporates water features and marshland areas that come into play on several holes, reflecting the low-lying geography near the Gulf of Mexico. Players encounter a mix of open and tree-lined holes, with the cypress trees providing both visual definition and strategic interest. The course serves as one of two eighteen-hole layouts at Peninsula Golf & Racquet Club, which functions as a residential golf community catering to both local members and visitors to the Gulf Shores area.
Gulf Shores has developed as a golf destination over recent decades, with courses taking advantage of the mild climate and coastal setting. The Cypress Course fits within this regional context as an accessible layout that emphasizes playability while incorporating the natural features of Alabama's coastal landscape. The club offers traditional amenities expected of a full-service golf and racquet facility in a resort-oriented community.
Reviews
Fantastic course and must stop if in Coastal Alabama. Hole #8 is the most difficult hole in the entire golf club. At 600 yard par 5 with water left and right of fairway you need to be very long and straight.
