CRUMPIN FOX CLUB
🇺🇸 Bernardston, MA, USA
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr.
Crumpin-Fox isn't just a round of golf; it's a test of mettle carved into the rolling hills of Bernardston. More "eastern plains" than mountain golf, the course, designed in the late 1960s, and early 1970s, demands players navigate its length. While the club sits comfortably outside the national conversation, it carries a distinct regional identity.
Architect Geoffrey Cornish sculpted a layout that rewards power and strategic thinking. Wide fairways, however, can be deceiving, often funneling errant shots into thick rough or strategically placed bunkers. The terrain demands respect, as subtle elevation changes impact club selection, turning seemingly simple shots into tests of precision.
What Crumpin-Fox may lack in storied tournament history, it compensates for with a strong local following and challenging layout. The vibe is more relaxed than stuffy. And the post-round discussion is fueled by the tales of conquered greens and the occasional humbling hazard, often paired with the club's famous Fox Burger.
Reviews
Very challenging slopes and fun shots you get to hit all over this course. Very well maintained and quick pace of play
Played in the rain unfortunately
Hidden gem in Western Mass. Discovered it randomly 4 years ago and have since established a standing yearly outing with a huge crew. Phenomenal value, and a really tricky course that is extremely well kept.
