RTJ GOLF TRAIL AT MAGNOLIA GROVE
🇺🇸 Mobile, AL, USA
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr., Roger Rulewich
The Crossings course at RTJ Golf Trail's Magnolia Grove, etched into the landscape of Mobile, Alabama, presents a decidedly American challenge, where bold play is often rewarded. The course, a part of the expansive Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail, is built on a landscape that reflects the region's natural beauty, but offers more than just aesthetics.
Crafted by the hands of Robert Trent Jones Sr., the layout unfurls across classic southern terrain, with gently rolling fairways framed by mature hardwoods and the occasional water hazard. The design is a subtle test of strategy, rewarding thoughtful placement over sheer power, even though length is a definite advantage on several holes. It favors players who can work the ball, but with less severity than its sister course, The Falls, making it a more forgiving, and often more enjoyable, round.
While not a perennial host to major championships, The Crossings has been a stop on the LPGA Tour with the hosting of the former Mobile Bay LPGA Classic. The course holds a strong regional reputation, largely thanks to the Robert Trent Jones Golf Trail imprimatur. This is a course of pure golf, where the game itself, and the Southern landscape are the main attractions.
Reviews
Typical RTJ experience with wild elevation changes and aggressive contours. Some great views and a good walk through nature. As with most RTJ courses on the Alabama trail I probably would not recommend walking the course.
Fun course, great condition, great value.
Pretty average RTJ course. A lot of fun nonetheless
