THE CROSBY CLUB AT RANCHO SANTA FEE
🇺🇸 San Diego, CA, USA
Designed by Brian Curley, Fred Couples

The Crosby Club at Rancho Santa Fe occupies rolling terrain in one of San Diego County's most established residential enclaves, roughly twenty miles north of downtown San Diego. Designed by Fred Couples in collaboration with Brian Curley and opened in the late 1990s, the course reflects Couples' playing sensibilities—emphasizing strategic options from the tee and rewarding well-positioned approach shots. The routing takes advantage of natural elevation changes and native vegetation characteristic of Southern California's coastal foothills, with fairways framed by mature eucalyptus and oak trees.
The layout presents a variety of hole types across its par-72 design, mixing risk-reward opportunities with more straightforward tests of accuracy. Several holes feature elevated tees that provide views across the property and toward the surrounding countryside, while greens are typically contoured to accept thoughtful approaches but penalize careless execution. Water comes into play selectively, and bunkering follows a naturalistic style consistent with the regional landscape.
The Crosby Club operates as a private equity club, serving a membership drawn largely from Rancho Santa Fe and nearby coastal communities. The club takes its name from Bing Crosby, whose family had historical ties to the area, though the course itself was not directly associated with the entertainer during his lifetime. The facility includes practice areas and a clubhouse designed to complement the understated character of Rancho Santa Fe, a community known for its privacy and agricultural zoning that preserves open space between properties.
