CRAIGIELAW GOLF CLUB
🏴 Longniddry, East Lothian, Scotland
Designed by Donald Steel

Craigielaw is a modern links conceived in the spirit of Scotland’s revered historic courses, carved into the East Lothian coastline near Aberlady. The relatively young course, opened in 2001, embraces the classic linksland terrain: undulating fairways, strategically placed bunkers, and firm, fast greens that demand creative shot-making. Its accessibility and fairness off the tee makes it a course players want to experience time and time again.
Designed by Donald Steel, the course weaves through the natural contours of the land, offering panoramic views of the Firth of Forth and the iconic Bass Rock. The layout is not particularly long, but its defense lies in the ever-present wind and the artful placement of hazards, rewarding thoughtful strategy over brute force. Craigielaw hosted the 2006 Scottish Amateur Championship.
While perhaps not as internationally celebrated as some of its famed neighbors, Craigielaw has rapidly gained a reputation for its excellent condition, challenging yet playable layout, and welcoming atmosphere. The club fosters a vibrant community, known for its commitment to traditional Scottish hospitality and a particularly fine selection of local single malts at the 19th hole. A gathering spot for golf aficionados and lovers of East Lothian.
