COYOTE MOON GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Truckee, CA, USA
Designed by Brad Bell

Coyote Moon Golf Course, carved from the towering pines near Truckee, California, embodies a mountain golf experience as rugged and rewarding as the surrounding landscape. Gene Bates crafted a layout in the late 1990s that demands strategic play over brute force, favoring thoughtful approaches over sheer distance.
The course unfolds across rolling terrain, with fairways that often tilt and tumble alongside exposed granite outcroppings. While forgivingly wide in places, errant shots are quickly swallowed by the dense forest or catch the unforgiving contours leading away from the green. Coyote Moon is not known for hosting major championships, instead it enjoys a reputation as a highly playable but challenging course offering a pure mountain golf experience.
Its regional standing is well-regarded as a course with a robust local membership that appreciates its balance of beauty and playability. The club is known for the active social calendar and a laid-back atmosphere that encourages camaraderie both on and off the course. It’s a place where the emphasis is on enjoying the game and the Sierra Nevada scenery, rather than striving for tournament glory.
Reviews
Fun golf course in the mountains of lake tahoe. Some of the greens were patchy and messed up but besides that not terrible for a public golf course
Really good mountain course. Very hilly take a cart good conditions tight driving areas between tall trees and elevated greens. One of my favorites in the area
