CORRAL DE TIERRA COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Salinas, CA, USA
Designed by Bob E. Baldock

Corral de Tierra Country Club sits in the rolling hills east of Salinas, California, in the Corral de Tierra valley between the Salinas Valley floor and the higher elevations of the Gabilan Range. Designed by Bob E. Baldock and opened in the 1960s, the course reflects the work of a prolific Northern California architect who shaped dozens of layouts across the region during the mid-twentieth century. Baldock's designs typically emphasized playability for a range of skill levels while working sensitively with natural terrain, and Corral de Tierra follows this approach across its hillside property.
The routing takes advantage of the area's natural contours, with elevation changes that provide variety in shot-making and views across the surrounding agricultural landscape and distant mountains. The climate here benefits from the moderating influence of nearby Monterey Bay, though the course sits far enough inland to experience warmer conditions than the immediate coastal zone. Oak trees and native grasses frame many holes, giving the layout a distinctly Californian character.
Corral de Tierra serves primarily as a member-focused facility, offering a quieter alternative to the more famous championship courses along the Monterey Peninsula to the west. The club maintains a traditional country club atmosphere with dining and social amenities that complement the golf experience. While it does not host professional tournaments or appear on national rankings, the course provides a solid test of golf in a scenic setting that reflects both Baldock's design sensibilities and the natural beauty of the Salinas Valley region.
Reviews
Really cool course that people don’t know about because of its famous neighbors. I’d play this course every day and be happy. Tucked up against the coastal mountains in a valley near Salinas. Perfect weather just out of the fog. Lot of variety next time you’re in Monterey before dropping 4 bills on a 17 mile drive course see if you can get a game here you won’t be disappointed
