CORAL RIDGE COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Fort Lauderdale, FL, USA
Designed by Robert Trent Jones Sr.

Coral Ridge Country Club, a fixture in Fort Lauderdale's Bayview neighborhood, stands as a testament to the enduring appeal of classic, member-centric golf experiences. Opening in the mid-1950's, it became an instant local hotbed for the burgeoning South Florida community that called it home.
Architect Dick Wilson sculpted Coral Ridge from relatively flat, inland terrain. While not a particularly long course by modern standards, its tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers offer a classic test that favors accuracy and course management over brute strength. Several doglegs demand strategic shot placement and an ability to shape the ball, making it challenging for players who lack finesse.
While Coral Ridge hasn't hosted any major professional championships, its history is steeped in local amateur competition. The club has also played host to several US Open and US Amateur Qualifiers, in addition to serving as a social hub for Fort Lauderdale's elite. It's not uncommon to see members enjoying the club's famed chicken pot pie after a round, a tradition that underscores the club's commitment to camaraderie and comfort.
Reviews
This place is awesome — it’s got that classic South Florida feel paired with a really welcoming private club atmosphere. The staff was great from the moment we pulled up, and the facilities are top-tier. A great locker room, men’s grill, and pro shop, plus an awesome practice setup. The range sits at the back of the property and has range finders at each stall, which is such a nice touch. There’s also a great short game area and big putting green all right next to the first tee. The course itself is a ton of fun to play. It’s a Rees Jones redesign of a Robert Trent Jones Sr. original, and you can really see the classic style in the layout — wide fairways, well-placed bunkers, and those clean runway-style tees that just look awesome. We played on a windy day (30+ mph gusts), so it was definitely playing long and tough. The greens had recently been punched, so it was hard to get a full read on them, but you can tell they’re usually in great shape. I really liked the routing and overall flow of the course. The green complexes stand out the most — they’re super fun to play and give you plenty of variety on approach. My favorite stretch was holes 4 and 5. The 4th is a great par 5 with bunkers right where you want to lay up, and a narrow green with a runoff that falls off into the water. Then 5 is a par 3 with a tight, tiered green and bunkers guarding the front — a great follow-up hole. Overall, Coral Ridge is just a really well-rounded club. Great facilities, friendly people, and a fun, thoughtful design that fits Florida golf perfectly. I’d love to play it again on a calmer day and see those greens at full speed.
