CONNECTICUT GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Easton, CT, USA
Designed by Geoffrey Cornish, Silva

Connecticut Golf Club occupies rolling terrain in Easton, a town in Fairfield County that lies inland from the Long Island Sound coast. The course was designed by Geoffrey Cornish and William Silva, two figures who shaped numerous layouts across New England during the mid-to-late twentieth century. Cornish, a Massachusetts-based architect who studied under Stanley Thompson, built a reputation for practical, strategic designs that respected natural landforms, while Silva collaborated with him on several projects during this period. The routing takes advantage of the property's elevation changes and wooded character typical of southwestern Connecticut.
The layout moves through mature hardwood forests and across open corridors, with fairways that often require accurate placement rather than pure distance. Greens are modestly contoured, and bunkering follows the restrained style common to Cornish's work—functional rather than ornamental. Water comes into play on several holes, and the variety in hole lengths and angles asks golfers to use different parts of their game throughout the round.
Connecticut Golf Club operates as a private facility and serves a membership drawn largely from Fairfield County. The club maintains a traditional atmosphere, with golf as the central focus. The course provides a solid test for accomplished players while remaining accessible to members of varying skill levels, reflecting the design philosophy that Cornish applied across much of his portfolio in the region.
Reviews
Fabulous greens, some of the best in the area. Constant elevation changes make for a challenging course.
Very difficult and hilly course. Conditions are good, just a bit of target golf while still playing long. A few cool holes, some nice views, but definitely a step below some of the other great courses in Fairfield County, CT.
