COUNTRY CLUB OF COLUMBUS
🇺🇸 Columbus, GA, USA
Designed by Donald Ross
Columbus at Country Club of Columbus, a testament to enduring club tradition, occupies a classic parkland setting just north of the city, where the Muscogee County Club first established a golf presence in the early 20th century. Routed across gently rolling terrain and lined with mature Georgia pines, the course presents a strategic test rather than overwhelming length. Subtle elevation changes and well-placed bunkers reward thoughtful approaches and penalize errant shots.
Originally designed by the venerable Donald Ross in 1915, and later refined by Joe Lee, Columbus offers a glimpse into the Golden Age of course architecture with its emphasis on natural contours and strategic shot-making. The Club is known for its strong membership.
While not a regular stop on professional tours, Columbus has maintained its position as a respected regional club known for its unpretentious but deeply committed membership. The club's social calendar is as robust as its golf program, a favorite tradition of families and golfers alike.
Reviews
Donald Ross design. Tough course! Small, turtleback greens necessitates accurate approach shots, otherwise you’re in for a long day. Holes are close together so beware of shots from other holes and make sure you’re listening for “Fore!”
