COLORADO NATIONAL GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Erie, CO, USA
Designed by Jay Morrish
Colorado National Golf Club is a sprawling testament to big sky golf, where length is rewarded and the Front Range vista serves as constant, breathtaking distraction. Carved into the rolling plains near Erie, Colorado, the course embodies a modern design philosophy, favoring generous fairways that belie the challenges lurking around the greens. The prevailing winds demand strategic shot-making, and while forgiveness is offered off the tee, approaches require accuracy to navigate the undulating putting surfaces. It is not a course known for its intricate, hidden nuances. Rather, Colorado National offers a bold, straightforward test.
Designed by Jay Morrish and later refined by Steve Smyers, Colorado National presents a layout defined by its scale and its commitment to showcasing the natural landscape. While it has not hosted major professional championships, the club has been a proving ground for up-and-coming talent, serving as a regular venue for regional amateur events. Its relative youth places it outside the historical echelons of American golf, but it is the type of club where you can spend time with friends.
More than just a championship-style layout, the club fosters a relaxed atmosphere amongst its membership. The club is a gathering spot where locals and Denverites mix, swap stories, and enjoy the Colorado sun. Word has it the club sponsors yearly bourbon tastings for members.
Reviews
This course has great views and is well maintained. A little pricey and it’s not the most challenging course but it’s just fun to play.
I want this course to be better. Feel like it has the ability to be excellent but just isnt anything crazy. Obviously well maintained but for the price it could be better
Very fun. Great views. Decent test. Punches above its weight.
