COBBLESTONE GOLF COURSE
🇺🇸 Acworth, GA, USA
Designed by Ken Dye
Cobblestone Golf Course sits in Acworth, a suburban community northwest of Atlanta in the foothills of the North Georgia mountains. Designed by Ken Dye and opened in the late 1990s, the course occupies rolling terrain characteristic of the Georgia Piedmont, where elevation changes and natural contours shape the routing. Dye, who worked extensively in the Southeast during this period, incorporated the site's topography into a layout that features both open and wooded corridors, with several holes playing across or along natural drainage patterns.
The course serves the northern Atlanta metropolitan area as a daily-fee facility, providing accessible golf in a region that experienced significant residential and recreational development during the 1990s and early 2000s. The design reflects the era's approach to public golf course architecture, balancing playability for a range of skill levels with strategic elements that reward course management. Water features appear on multiple holes, and the property's natural stone outcroppings—suggested by the course name—contribute to the visual character of the landscape.
Cobblestone operates within Acworth's broader network of recreational amenities, serving both local residents and visitors to the Lake Allatoona area. The course layout takes advantage of views toward the surrounding hills and wooded areas typical of this transitional zone between metropolitan Atlanta and the more mountainous terrain to the north.
Reviews
Incredible views and fun topography.
Interesting layout on a pretty good public value course
Very good value and when the conditions are dialed in a terrific public course. The conditioning and pace of play can be problematic but the layout and greens complexes are excellent .
