Coast/Ridge at The Els Club Desaru Coast - Ocean Course

The Els Club Desaru Coast features two distinct eighteen-hole courses, with the Ocean Course representing the coastal component of this Malaysian resort development. Designed through a collaboration between Robert Trent Jones Jr. and Ernie Els, the layout occupies land along the South China Sea in the Desaru Coast integrated resort area, approximately an hour's drive from Singapore. The course opened in 2018 as part of a broader tourism and residential development in southeastern Johor.

The Ocean Course routing takes advantage of the property's seaside location, with several holes playing directly along the coastline and offering views across the water. The design incorporates the natural topography of the site, which includes both elevated ground and lower-lying areas closer to sea level. Jones and Els shaped the course to present strategic options from the tee and into greens, with bunkering that reflects Jones's architectural lineage while accommodating Els's perspective as a former professional player. The layout measures over 7,000 yards from the championship tees.

The course serves both resort guests and members within the broader Desaru Coast development, which includes hotels, a water park, and residential components. The facility offers practice areas and clubhouse amenities typical of destination golf properties in Southeast Asia. The Ocean Course operates alongside its companion Valley Course, providing visiting golfers with contrasting experiences within the same complex.
