CIDER RIDGE GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Oxford, AL, USA
Designed by Bill Bergin
Cider Ridge, nestled in the rolling foothills near Oxford, Alabama, reflects a modern understanding of playability carved from the region's gentle contours. This isn’t a revival of some bygone architectural school; it’s a course built for contemporary players. Wide fairways grant some forgiveness off the tee, but don’t mistake it for docile. Clever bunkering guards approach shots, and the subtle breaks on the undulating greens present a formidable test for even the most skilled putters. The course favors a strategic game, rewarding thoughtful placement over brute force.
While Cider Ridge hasn’t hosted national championships, its local tournaments have forged a fierce competitive spirit within the membership. The club championship is a hotly contested affair, steeped in friendly rivalry and fiercely guarded traditions. It's a proving ground for the area’s best amateurs, where reputations are made and lost against the backdrop of the Alabama landscape.
Cider Ridge isn't trying to be Augusta National, and it doesn't pretend to be. Instead, it is a club with a close knit membership known for its warm hospitality and a genuine love for the game. It may not be on every golf "bucket list" but those who know it, love it.
Reviews
Best place I’ve ever played. Beautiful views at the base of Mount Cheaha. The first six holes are typical southern parkland golf, than number 7 brings you into the hills of the course. Challenging tee shots, tricky approaches, but forgiving greens that produce perfect rolls. If you ever find yourself driving I-20 Oxford, this is a must play.
