SAND HOLLOW RESORT
🇺🇸 Hurricane, UT, USA
Designed by John Fought

Championship at Sand Hollow Resort leverages the dramatic desertscape near Hurricane, Utah, to deliver a modern golfing experience that tests nerve and rewards bold play. The routing, carved into the region's distinctive red rock formations, presents golfers with panoramic vistas and strategic challenges in equal measure.
Designed with generous fairways that belie the perils lurking just off the short grass, the course is best navigated by those who can control ball flight in the swirling desert winds. Deep canyons bisect several holes, demanding precise club selection and an unwavering commitment to the chosen line. Accuracy is prized, though a powerful fade could prove useful on the majority of holes that benefit this shot shape.
While not yet a stage for major professional championships, Championship at Sand Hollow Resort has become a favored destination for discerning golfers seeking a challenging yet memorable round in a visually stunning environment. It is a testament to the enduring allure of desert golf, where the stark beauty of the landscape elevates the game to an art form. The resort, known for its warm hospitality, has also quietly cultivated a loyal following among local enthusiasts drawn to the camaraderie of the club and the post-round tales shared over their signature Navajo tacos.
Reviews
Fantastic course. Incredible layout, especially back 9. Scenery is incredible but course itself is very deserving of high rating. Good conditions.
Red rocks was beautiful playing on the side of a cliff
The views.
This is a divisive course to me. You have a 3 hole stretch that rivals anything inland that I can think of. You are playing on Mars, its jaw dropping and takes your breath away. Truly amazing. We used a tee box that wasn’t marked cause it was definitely the coolest one with the best pic and toughest angle, unforgettable drives. If you hadn’t seen photos of the course, you’d be finishing hole 9 saying why the hell are we playing this course. I can hardly remember a hole on the front, completely forgetful and anyone who tells you differently is a liar haha. But those 3 holes change everything and make it a course that EVERYONE needs to play once. I’d go back, but only cause those 3 holes.
Played on SB in 2023. Course was not in the best shape in March. The obvious forte of the course is the stretch of 11-15, which is fantastic. Most the rest of the holes are forgettable, but when you go, you know what you’re going for.
Legendary Course, me and my buds Richard and big mike played here. It was the first time I broke 90 and Richard cheered loudly for me and big mike didn’t care. This course will always be special to me from our legendary trip there.
Bucket list course for a few of the holes on the back 9, other that those it isn’t anything crazy special.
Golfing on Mars
Absolutely stunning scenery that deserves to be paired with improvement to the actual golf course conditions. Additionally, the golf course itself is nothing to write home about. Outside of 4 holes, SH is a very standard course. Still, said 4 holes are exceptionally beautiful. Greens fee was overpriced, but it was something to do once surely. I would play again but looking forward to checking out other options (Black Desert) before. Had a great pasta dish post-round!
More views than golf. But still so good. Elite bachelor party
