PIEDMONT DRIVING CLUB
🇺🇸 Atlanta, GA, USA
Designed by Rees Jones
Atlanta's Piedmont Driving Club, steeped in tradition since 1887, offers a uniquely engaging, if not globally renowned, golfing experience just southwest of the city's heart. The relatively flat terrain allows for a walking-friendly layout, demanding strategic shot placement rather than brute force, and features tree-lined fairways and strategically placed bunkers that emphasize precise ball striking.
Architect Dick Wilson, known for his work at Doral and Cog Hill, reshaped the course in the mid-20th century, lending it a classic parkland character. While Piedmont has not hosted major professional championships, it serves as a prized venue for its members and local Atlanta area amateur events.
The club itself is known for its close-knit membership drawn from Atlanta's business and social elite. While not particularly noted for culinary specialties, the club provides a solid and comforting dining experience in line with its established culture. The Piedmont Driving Club offers a private and refined golfing retreat.
Reviews
The staff is great in all aspects. The course is always in good playing condition.
Very fun course that has several risk/reward holes where you can cut off as much water as you want to try with the driver. Beautiful property with memorable routing around the lake.
