GOLFPARK MIEMING
🇦🇹 Mieming, Tyrol, AT
Designed by Keith Preston
Golfpark Mieming's Championship course sits in the Mieminger Plateau region of Tyrol, approximately 30 kilometers west of Innsbruck. The course occupies terrain at roughly 900 meters elevation, positioned between the dramatic Wetterstein and Mieminger mountain ranges. Keith Preston designed the layout to work with the natural contours of this Alpine meadowland, where the routing encounters both open plateau sections and areas with more pronounced elevation change.
The course plays through a landscape typical of the Tyrolean uplands, with views extending to the surrounding peaks. The design incorporates the existing topography rather than imposing dramatic earthwork, allowing the natural movement of the land to influence shot values and strategy. Water features appear on several holes, and mature tree stands define corridors in places while leaving other sections more exposed to the mountain air and weather patterns that can shift quickly at this altitude.
Golfpark Mieming serves both local membership and visiting golfers drawn to the Tyrol region for its combination of mountain recreation and golf. The facility reflects the growth of Alpine golf in Austria during recent decades, offering a full-length championship test in a setting where the mountain backdrop is constant but not overwhelming. The course remains playable for much of the traditional European season, though snow and weather limit winter access as is common at this elevation in the Alps.
