OMNI LA COSTA RESORT & SPA
🇺🇸 Carlsbad, CA, USA
Designed by Damian Pascuzzo

Champions Course at Omni La Costa whispers tales of sun-drenched California golf, where Hollywood's elite once traded the silver screen for manicured greens and leisurely rounds. Carved into the rolling terrain of Carlsbad, it's a traditional resort course where generous fairways invite aggressive play, although strategically placed bunkers await errant approaches.
Originally sculpted by Dick Wilson, the Champions Course has seen later enhancements by Damian Pascuzzo and Steve Pate, refining its challenge for the modern game. The course isn't known for its rigorous difficulty, but it's an open design that encourages fun and accessibility for players of all levels, a welcoming embrace that echoes La Costa's history as a destination for relaxation and recreation.
Beyond the golf, the spirit of La Costa thrives. While the course may not have etched its name in championship lore, the club is known for its famous members and resort guests, a place for generations to come to experience Southern California golf.
Reviews
The toughest course I’ve played, but the greens were spectacular. Gil Hanse crushed it on this design, it was similar to some other Hanse courses I’ve played : Fields Ranch East, Rustic Canyon, Colonial CC. If you miss your approach shot you’re staring at double bogey. This round is expensive and it was cart path only which only added to the pain. But I recommend it for any golf purists.
By far the hardest course I’ve played
