Cerrado del Aguila occupies hillside terrain in the municipality of Mijas, positioned inland from the Costa del Sol in Andalucia. Designed by Francisco Navarro and Ignacio Garcia, the course reflects the regional approach to golf development in southern Spain during the area's expansion period, utilizing the natural elevation changes and Mediterranean landscape characteristic of this part of the province. The routing works across sloping ground with views extending toward the surrounding mountains and, from higher points, glimpses of the coastline. The layout presents golfers with varied elevation changes throughout the round, requiring thoughtful club selection and course management on approach shots to greens set at different levels. The design incorporates native vegetation including olive and almond trees, along with typical Mediterranean scrub, which frames many holes and defines playing corridors. Water features appear on several holes, adding strategic considerations to what is primarily a target-oriented design shaped by the topography. Cerrado del Aguila serves both local members and visiting golfers drawn to the Mijas area, which hosts numerous courses within a relatively compact zone. The climate allows for year-round play, with the course maintaining conditions suited to the warm, dry summers and mild winters typical of coastal Andalucia.
