Severiano Ballesteros designed the course, which opened in the 1990s as one of two layouts at the property—the other being the Mar course. The routing moves through relatively flat terrain characteristic of this coastal zone, with fairways bordered by Mediterranean vegetation including pine and eucalyptus. The course sits close enough to the Atlantic that wind becomes a regular factor in club selection and strategy, though the setting lacks the dune topography of traditional links golf. The Novo Sancti Petri complex serves both resort visitors and local members, with the Centro layout typically regarded as the more accessible of the two courses on the property. The facility includes practice areas and a clubhouse that supports the dual-course operation.
