Centennial at Philadelphia Country Club

The Centennial Course at Philadelphia Country Club opened in 1996, designed by Tom Fazio to commemorate the club's centennial anniversary. It serves as the club's second eighteen-hole layout, complementing the historic Spring Mill Course that dates to the club's founding era. The property sits in Gladwyne along the Main Line, the affluent suburban corridor northwest of Philadelphia, where rolling terrain and mature hardwood forests provide the natural canvas for Fazio's design.

Fazio routed the course through varied topography that includes elevation changes, wooded corridors, and open meadow areas. The layout features the designer's characteristic emphasis on strategic bunkering, contoured greens, and careful framing of holes through selective clearing and shaping. Water comes into play on several holes, and the conditioning standards reflect the club's resources and tradition. The course offers a contrast in character to Spring Mill—more expansive in scale and modern in presentation, with wider fairways and larger, more undulating putting surfaces typical of Fazio's work from this period.

Philadelphia Country Club maintains a membership rooted in the city's established business and social communities, with a history extending back to the late nineteenth century. The club has hosted competitive golf over the decades, though the Centennial Course itself has not served as a major championship venue. It functions primarily as a members' course, providing variety and additional capacity for one of the region's longstanding private clubs.
