CEDAR RAPIDS COUNTRY CLUB
🇺🇸 Cedar Rapids, IA, USA
Designed by Donald Ross, Ron Prichard

Cedar Rapids Country Club unfolds across a landscape sculpted by the sinuous curves of the Iowa River valley, a testament to a bygone era of elegant, understated golf. Its heritage is deeply intertwined with the city's own, offering a sense of place that few clubs can match.
Designed in the early 20th century, the course embodies a classic parkland style, with mature trees framing generous fairways that belie the subtle challenges lurking within. Strategic bunkering and gently undulating greens put a premium on approach play. While not exceptionally long, its defense lies in the ability to navigate doglegs, slight elevation changes and the need for well placed tee shots, making the course a test of thoughtful strategy rather than brute force. Local lore speaks of friendly wagers decided on the par-3 15th, a picturesque hole with water guarding the green that often proves to be the course's pivotal moment.
Though not a regular stop on the professional circuit, Cedar Rapids Country Club holds a respected position within the Iowa golf community. Its membership, a diverse group drawn from Cedar Rapids' business and civic leadership, reflects the club's enduring role as a social hub and place of respite. After a round, many members are known to congregate on the patio overlooking the 18th green, often accompanied by the Club's noted cheese balls, a beloved staple of its culinary offerings.
Reviews
I truly did love this course. Greens, fairways, and bunkers all in incredible shape. So hard to pick a favorite hole as it was great hole after great hole. But I would have to say 1, 8, 9, 10, and 18 were my favorites with number 5 and 14 up there as well. So many good holes here. Par 3’s are great. 1 starts it off with an elevated tee shot down to a beautiful green. Number 9 has an elevated tee shot and 2nd shot that walks up to my favorite green on the property. A big beautiful punchbowl green with a flag pole at the back. 18 is also an awesome uphill tee shot. The green on 18 is squared off. 2 really cool finishing holes. I’m not sure I have met a nicer membership as everyone has been very inviting. Has a driving range and also a putting green. Next to the putting green is a Rolex clock with a putting course. Getting to spend some time at that putting course is very fun. There were multiple areas where you could see so much of the course as you are higher up. Feels like the course kinda sits down in a valley. Really cool bridges and interesting holes. Layout was super fun. Can’t wait to go back!
Played a college event here in 2018 before I realized how “good” of a course this place is. Unfortunately we had the final day rained out, but was able to loop it 3 times in 2 days. Somewhere I would like to go back to before I die.
This would be a top 5 course in a bigger metro like Minneapolis. So underrated. One of my favorite plays ever. They don’t know how good they have it down in CR
