Cedar Lake Course
Clayville, NY, USA

Cedar Lake at Cedar Lake Club is a reminder that compelling golf doesn't always require widespread notoriety. Tucked away near Clayville, NY, this course offers a charming, unpretentious golfing experience steeped in local history. The course, laid out in the mid-20th century, meanders through gently rolling parkland. While not overly long, Cedar Lake presents strategic challenges with its tight, tree-lined fairways and subtly contoured greens. The course favors a thoughtful approach rather than brute power, rewarding players who can shape their shots and manage the course. Expect dog legs, blind shots, and small greens. A welcoming and down-to-earth club atmosphere fosters a strong sense of community among its members. Cedar Lake isn't about pretense; it's about enjoying a round of golf in good company.
Private club near Utica. Too many trees they need to take out a couple thousand. Fairways are tree lined chutes with big trees overhanging the fairways and smaller trees planted in awkward spots narrowing the landing areas from the tee unnecessarily and approaches to greens. Bunkering is also basic. Not deep all look the same often one on each side of the green not really strategic. Three of the 4 par 3’s are either pushing 200 yards or are 200 plus. Course plays harder than yardage. It’s a great piece of land and could be a really could course but it needs a big dollar renovation and that’s not likely. That all being said most golfers would likely enjoy playing this course but it could be so much better
