DINGLE GOLF LINKS CEANN SIBEAL
🇮🇪 Dingle, Kerry, IE
Designed by Christy O'Connor Jr., Eddie Hackett

Ceann Sibeal occupies a dramatic stretch of the Dingle Peninsula on Ireland's southwest coast, where the Atlantic meets the slopes of Mount Brandon. The course was originally laid out by Eddie Hackett in 1970, with Christy O'Connor Jr. later contributing redesign work that enhanced the routing and strategic elements. The links sits at the westernmost point of the European mainland, and the exposed headland location means wind is a constant and defining factor in play.
The terrain moves across genuine linksland with natural dunes, rumpled fairways, and elevated tees that offer views across Smerwick Harbour and the Blasket Islands. Several holes play along clifftop edges, while others descend into valleys where the wind can swirl unpredictably. The turf is firm and fast-running in typical links fashion, and the bunkering reflects both Hackett's understated style and O'Connor's more sculptural touches. Greens are often perched or angled to reward precise approach play, particularly when the wind complicates club selection.
Ceann Sibeal remains relatively remote compared to Ireland's more famous links venues, and its location in the Gaeltacht region means Irish is still spoken in the surrounding community. The course attracts golfers drawn to the Dingle Peninsula's combination of rugged coastal scenery and traditional Irish culture. While it lacks the tournament pedigree of courses farther north, Ceann Sibeal offers an authentic links experience in one of Ireland's most distinctive landscapes.
