COUNTRY CLUB AT CASTLE PINES
🇺🇸 Castle Rock, CO, USA
Designed by Jack Nicklaus

Castle Pines Golf Club, located in Castle Rock, Colorado, opened in 1981 as one of Jack Nicklaus's signature mountain designs. The course sits at approximately 6,500 feet elevation in the foothills south of Denver, where the High Plains meet the Front Range of the Rocky Mountains. The property features dramatic elevation changes, with several holes playing through natural ravines and across steep terrain that offers expansive views of the surrounding landscape.
Nicklaus routed the course to take advantage of the site's natural contours and incorporated his characteristic strategic design elements: large, undulating greens, strategically placed bunkers, and risk-reward opportunities throughout the round. The layout demands accuracy and course management in the thin mountain air, where distance control becomes particularly challenging. Water comes into play on several holes, and the native scrub oak, ponderosa pine, and rock outcroppings frame many fairways.
Castle Pines gained prominence as the host of The International from 1986 to 2006, a PGA Tour event that used the modified Stableford scoring system. The tournament attracted top players and brought national attention to the course during its two-decade run. The club operates as a private facility and has maintained its reputation as one of Colorado's premier golf destinations.
The course has undergone periodic updates over the years to keep pace with modern equipment and playing standards while preserving Nicklaus's original design intent and the property's distinctive mountain character.
