Castillo de Gorraiz occupies rolling terrain in the Valle de Egües, approximately ten kilometers north of Pamplona in the Navarra region of northern Spain. Designed by American architect Cabell B. Robinson and opened in the early 1990s, the course reflects Robinson's experience working with Robert Trent Jones and his subsequent independent practice focused on European projects. The layout takes advantage of natural elevation changes and integrates mature trees that frame many holes, creating defined corridors through the property.

The routing moves across varied topography, with several holes playing uphill or downhill and others occupying flatter ground in the valley floor. Water features appear on multiple holes, and strategic bunkering requires careful course management. The design emphasizes playability for a range of skill levels while maintaining challenge from the back tees. Views extend toward the surrounding Navarrese countryside and distant mountains, situating the golf experience within the broader landscape of this transitional zone between the Pyrenees and the Ebro valley.
