Lewis later redesigned portions of the layout, and the firm of Clifton & Ezell contributed additional work to create the current configuration of the Carolina Pines and The Cove nines. The property occupies rolling terrain typical of the Carolina Piedmont, with elevation changes and mature tree corridors defining many holes. Lake Wylie comes into play on several holes, particularly on The Cove nine, where water hazards and shoreline views influence strategy. The routing moves through residential areas while maintaining distinct playing corridors, with pine and hardwood stands framing fairways. The course serves as the centerpiece of the Tega Cay community, a planned development that grew significantly from its origins in the 1960s. The club functions as a semi-private facility, accommodating both members and daily-fee play.
