CANYON RIVER GOLF CLUB
🇺🇸 Missoula, MT, USA
Designed by Brian Curley, Lee Schmidt

Canyon River Golf Club, carved into the landscape just south of Missoula, Montana, presents a unique blend of strategic play and natural beauty reflecting the expansive Big Sky terrain. The course demands thoughtful approaches, with its generous fairways often leading to subtly guarded greens.
Designed in the late 1990s, the course is a more contemporary design in line with many courses from that era, but the mountainous terrain adds character to each hole. While no major championships have graced its fairways, Canyon River holds a cherished place in the hearts of local players. It's a course where the challenge is not brute force, but rather careful consideration of angles and the ever-present mountain winds.
Canyon River distinguishes itself within the Missoula golfing community as an accessible yet engaging experience. The membership is known for its laid-back Montana spirit, equally welcoming to seasoned players and those new to the game. One long standing tradition is the informal "Canyon River Classic" tournament among members that has been held every summer for the past 2 decades. The tournament winners get their names added to a plaque at the clubhouse bar. After a round, many golfers gather at the clubhouse, known for its hearty Montana fare and local brews, a testament to the club's emphasis on camaraderie.
