Blue Canyon Country Club

Blue Canyon Country Club's Canyon Course, designed by Yoshikazu Kato, occupies rolling terrain in the Thalang district of northern Phuket. The layout takes its name from the dramatic elevation changes and natural ravines that characterize the property, a former tin mine that was transformed into a golf course in the early 1990s. Kato's routing makes extensive use of the site's existing topography, with fairways that tumble through valleys and greens perched on plateaus above former mining excavations. The course features significant water hazards, including lakes that occupy old mining pits, and the design requires golfers to navigate both the vertical terrain and strategic bunkering. Mature trees and tropical vegetation frame many holes, while the elevation provides occasional views across the surrounding landscape. The layout demands accurate shot-making, as the combination of elevation change and water creates consequences for wayward shots. Blue Canyon gained international recognition when it hosted the Johnnie Walker Classic on multiple occasions in the 1990s, attracting fields that included many of the world's leading professionals. The club operates two eighteen-hole courses on the property, with the Canyon Course serving as the championship layout. The facility caters to both local members and visiting golfers, offering a well-maintained tropical golf experience in one of Thailand's primary resort destinations.
