HAIG POINT CLUB AND COMMUNITY ASSOCIATION
🇺🇸 Hilton Head Island, SC, USA
Designed by Rees Jones
Calibogue, Haig Point's championship layout, clings to the very edge of Daufuskie Island, a testament to Rees Jones's deft hand in shaping challenging, yet playable golf along the South Carolina coast. He reshaped a complex with origins dating back to a Scottish links-inspired design from the 1980s. The terrain is characterized by dramatic undulations and the ever-present threat of the salt marsh, placing a premium on strategic shot-making.
The course is a thinking man's track, rewarding thoughtful approaches more than raw power. While not a particularly long course by modern standards, its narrow fairways and strategically placed bunkers demand accuracy off the tee and precise iron play. The wind, a constant companion on this exposed island, adds another layer of complexity, transforming seemingly straightforward holes into tests of skill and judgment.
Beyond the golf, Haig Point fosters a relaxed, close-knit community, accessible only by ferry. There's a deliberate distance from the hustle of nearby Hilton Head that cultivates a unique atmosphere. Members often gather at the clubhouse after a round, sharing stories and savoring the Lowcountry cuisine. A peculiar tradition thrives here: members often sport custom-made, brightly colored belts emblazoned with the Haig Point lighthouse, a quirky symbol of their shared connection to this secluded golfing haven.

Hidden gem right off HHI. Offer member for a day deals. Course is in immaculate condition (extremely minimal member play). Some unbelievable views to be had, and an extremely fun golf course to boot.
